AVISTA Designs Hydraulic Test Environment for New Airliner
Critical Systems Engineering Service Provider Providing Complete Simulation Systems and Lab to Test Hydraulic Subsystem
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – July 10, 2007 – AVISTA Incorporated®, a leader in safety-critical systems software engineering services, has been selected by a leader in control system development to build a hydraulic testing system and integration laboratory for a subsystem being used on a groundbreaking new airliner. AVISTA was selected for its expertise in test equipment for mission critical systems, as well as in the Common Core System (CCS) software platform being used on the aircraft. The company has already done other DO-178B Level A-rated software systems work on the airliner's subsystems, including the flight deck control panels, common data network, common operating environment, and electrical power generation.
AVISTA is working closely with the hydraulics subsystem developer and aircraft manufacturer to provide a complete environment, including hardware, software and integration lab facilities, to simulate and test the hydraulic subsystem's integration and interface with other critical aircraft systems. The completed system simulates more than 400 inputs to the aircraft's hydraulic controls and their interaction with other flight systems to validate the hydraulic system design.
"Verifying proper integration and interaction in an aircraft's functional systems before first flight poses specific challenges," notes James T. Schneller, president of AVISTA Incorporated. "AVISTA works closely with its clients to engineer custom testing solutions to meet not only certification and product functionality requirements, but also the manufacturer's highest performance expectations. We are so pleased to be involved with a system so critical to this aircraft's success. This latest project is further proof of AVISTA's deep skills and experience in test equipment development, critical systems engineering, and verification and testing."
